TEFMA COVID-19 Webinar Series: Post COVID Workplaces

At a time when we are still facing uncertainty of the future and unable to meet face to face, we are extending our current webinar calendar to cover a range of topics, COVID-19 related.  Over the coming few months TEFMA aim to continually offer webinars on the lessons learned during this pandemic and bring to light any innovative ideas that are being shown across the sector by our peers and colleagues. It is hoped this webinar series will open the conversation between all of our members (business partners and associate members) as we gear up for an eventual return to Business as Usual.
We invite you to join us for our next instalment in this webinar series where we will look at post-COVID workplaces, with Tim providing insight into the tertiary education sector while BGIS will look at the bigger picture.  This webinar will be approximately 1 hour in length, which includes 2x 20 minute presentations followed by a 20 minute Q&A panel session with all the presenters.

Presentation 1: The Future of Workplaces Post COVID-19
Tim Sweeney, Associate Director Planning & Property, University of Queensland

What you will get from the presentation:
The current coronavirus pandemic has been the most significant and disruptive global event of modern times. Its impacts as a health and economic crisis have extended to many aspects of society including the way we interact and work. This presentation will examine what we can learn from the experience of modified working arrangements during the COVID-19 crisis and how that might be applied to office environments in the tertiary education sector.
It will consider immediate responses and temporary arrangements, how our offices are being reoccupied and the potential long-term ramifications for design and management of future workplaces.

Presentation 2: COVID19's effect on Workplace Experience
Scott Meertens, Senior Workplace Manager, BGIS

What you will get from the presentation:
The objective of the talk is to discuss the short, medium and long term effects COVID19 will have on Workplace Strategy and ultimately the individual’s Workplace Experience.  Topics to discuss include:

  • Tactical approaches to addressing COVID19
  • The effect of the Property Cycle on organisations COVID actions
  • The importance of Workplace Experience on the COVID response
  • Predictions on what will be driving organisation’s real estate decision in the next 12 to 24 months
  • The balance of cost, culture and workplace experience
