Dear Colleagues,
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our inaugural Conference focused on FM/Property related topics at the TEFMA23CONFERENCE – The New Frontiers: Evolutions and Revolutions in Sydney at the ICC in Darling Harbour on 10-13 September 2023.
The Local Organising Committee, led by Sam Wishart from LaTrobe University, Danika Head from Southern Cross University and Kayleigh Cookson and Kayleigh Loughlin from our Secretariat, The Association Specialists, have worked tirelessly with the team to bring you a fantastic program and networking event. Details can be found here.
If you have not yet registered for TEFMA23CONFERENCE, please go to the website and hit that Registration button. I would also strongly encourage TEFMA Intuitional Members to inform staff of the Conference, as it is a great professional development and networking opportunity for staff. It is also the time that we recognise the outstanding work of our colleagues – we have an action-packed Awards and Scholarship night planned!
WEBINARS & WORKSHOPS
TEFMA recently held a Sustainability Workshop in Brisbane, which attracted around 70 delegates across the 2-day event. The report to the Board indicated the event was highly successful and engaging, on a topic that is transformational. I anticipate we will be having further workshops, webinars and conference content that will focus on sustainability and net zero aspirations.
Our next Webinar is on 30 August 2023 and details can be found here. The Education Services Committee is working hard, not only overseeing the Conference, but also developing a 12-month Workshop and Webinar calendar, to be approved at the September TEFMA Board meeting for publication on the TEFMA website. I will provide more details in my October newsletter.
The next TEFMA Workshop – Emergency Planning - is being held on 23-24 November in Auckland, New Zealand. The program is coming together nicely, with some fantastic speakers and papers already forming. Details can be found here.

TEFMA COMMUNITY
We also ask all members to take the time to jump online and view the TEFMA Community portal. The aim of the TEFMA Community is to foster a culture of collaboration through sharing and engaging with the resources available in the library. The information is intended to generate discussion, build relationships with peers and learn from one another. Members are encouraged to join Special Interest Groups to share knowledge and influence continual improvement opportunities across the sector. You can access the TEFMA Community Portal from the TEFMA Home Page.
TEFMA GENERAL MANAGER
Lastly, I would like to welcome Matt Smith as the inaugural General Manager for TEFMA.
Many of you will know Matt from his time at the University of Tasmania and the Australian National University. Matt commenced in late July 2023 and, on behalf of the Board, we are very much looking forward to working with Matt in growing the Association in support of all members. Matt will be connecting with Institutional Members and Business Partners and supporting the Board as he commences in his role. Welcome Matt!
That is it for this update and I look forward to meeting as many colleagues at TEFMA23CONFERENCE as possible.
