Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the end of the academic and calendar year of 2024, I have no doubt everyone will be busy through to February 2025 undertaking campus improvement works.
As TEFMA’s new Board settles in and members are assigned to Committees to progress TEFMA’s initiatives I am excited to provide the first Newsletter as President. I am proud to represent a sector that has experienced so many challenges over the past few years yet is committed to adapting and evolving to remain sustainable for the students, staff and communities we serve into the future.
As a priority, I look forward to working with the Board early next year on refreshing TEFMA’s Strategic Plan 2025-27. Acknowledging the current higher education environment, we will be assessing opportunities to continue to provide maximum value to our members over the next three years. We will be providing an opportunity to hear from you on focus areas and priorities for the Association.
TEFMA 24
On behalf of the TEFMA Board I would like to extend our appreciation to all those that were able to attend our annual TEFMA Conference in Auckland in September – with 440 active participants across the three days. The feedback has been extremely positive, and we wish to warmly thank the organising committee, our keynote speakers and session presenters, our conference organiser, our exhibitors and sponsors, and all delegates. Thank you also to the institutions in Auckland who hosted a number of site tours – they were incredibly interesting, and I valued hearing about the Māori culture of New Zealand.
We are reviewing all feedback received following the Conference to ensure learnings inform the success of future TEFMA events. The Education Services Committee has already started making arrangements for the February 2025 Leaders Forum and Projects Workshop in Sydney and the TEFMA 25 Conference in Brisbane next September.
